OBO generator connection boxes
Surge protection for photovoltaics
Surge protection for PV systems always has two sides: Both on the direct current side and on the alternating current side, surge voltages can be coupled into the system for all kinds of reasons, for example, and can damage the inverter. OBO surge protection reliably protects every side. To protect the DC-side input of the inverter, OBO offers an optimised portfolio of generator connection boxes with lightning and surge protection.

The benefits of OBO generator connection boxes at a glance
- Robust: A high degree of protection and UV-resistant housing
- Fast: Terminals with push-in technology
- Safe: Very good voltage protection level thanks to the Y circuit
- Tested: Surge protection with a 5-year warranty
- Uncomplicated: Mounting instructions and technical data can be opened simply via QR code
- Multifaceted: Also available as a variant with STÄUBLI MC4 connector/socket
Robust housing with a high protection rating
The UV-resistant boxes feature a high protection class of IP66 and an impact rating of IK07. Especially practical: The cables are connected quickly and safely using terminals with push-in technology.
Suitable for installation indoors and outdoors.
With their heat-resistant housing made from polycarbonate, the generator connection boxes are suitable for installation both indoors and outdoors. The transparent cover of the boxes offers a clear view of the surge protection, enabling simple function checking. The typical areas of application for the OBO generator connection boxes are:
- Single-family homes
- Apartment buildings
- Industrial plant flat roofs
- Free-standing systems

Thought-out down to the last detail
The scope of delivery of the generator connection boxes includes cable glands, membrane pressure compensation elements and external fastenings. Even these small components provide decisive benefits: The external fastening straps can be attached very easily and also allow a simple arrangement of multiple generator connection boxes. This saves not only on fastening materials, keeping warehousing lean, but also on space and time. Yet another benefit: Should the photovoltaic system be expanded at a later time, then the generator connection boxes can be expanded simply for their own protection and arranged with the existing boxes. The pressure compensation element prevents the formation of condensation in the generator connection box.
