Project description

The Hosterwitz waterworks supply drinking water to part of the city of Dresden. In the period between May and September 2011, the safety lighting as well as the general lighting were replaced in the entire building.To meet the high requirements for corrosion protection and the fastening structures, various OBO wide span cable trays and cable ladders made of high-quality V2A stainless steel were used.

Were special solutions used?

To ensure the flawless progress of the project, the OBO sales engineer also supported the responsible technical planner in advance of the construction phase. In addition, the OBO regional sales head supported the executive head of construction during the construction phase as a direct contact. Thanks to the intensive on-site consultation during the entire period of the project, it was possible to implement solutions for the complex fastening requirements of the cable support structures in the project rapidly. The mounting work was completed in an extremely short time, whilst the water treatment systems continued to work.

What type of challenges occurred during construction?

In the Hosterwitz water works project, the safety and general lighting was replaced in the entire building. In so doing, special requirements were placed on the cable support system with regard to the fastening structures and corrosion resistance. Above the filter tanks, stainless steel wide span cable trays were fastened with large fastening distances. As it was not possible to drill into the statically important supports of the clean water filter hall, OBO Bettermann was able to prove its particular competences as a specialist for fastening solutions "without drilling".
