Project description

In 2012, AUDI AG produced more than a million cars at its Ingolstadt factory. A car rolls off the production line every 30 seconds, making a total of around 2,500 Audi cars per day. Last year, the new S49 mobility centre was commissioned, offering an office wing and a car park with around 800 parking spaces. In addition, two further car parks were built with around 2,300 spaces. The power supply in the car parks is ensured with more than seven kilometres of OBO cable trays with integrated LED luminaire support adapters. In addition, these cable trays can also offer energy-saving, functional lighting.

General building information

They route cables safely through the building and, at the same time, ensure energy-saving, functional lighting. This is because, in the seven kilometres of the DKS cable trays from OBO, which run through the parking levels in Ingolstadt, thousands of LED modules are integrated via the SKS luminaire support adapter. OBO supplied the product as a special variant with a side height of 85 millimetres, exactly in accordance with the requirements of AUDI AG.

The project was implemented by OBO Bettermann Projekt und Systemtechnik GmbH, together with Gebrueder Peters from Ingolstadt, who were charged with the electrical work. The responsible project officer at Peters, Alexander Koch, said: "I am thrilled that in OBO, we had the right partner on board and look back happily to the easy, cooperative work."

Why did the customer choose OBO products?

The Audi managers were particularly impressed by the harmonious overall appearance of the installation, because the trays and adapters have the same width. In addition, the luminaire is integrated in the tray and thus does not protrude below the cable tray. The modular construction of the adapters meant that the luminaires on the cable trays could be placed exactly where they were needed. Whether during a trip in the shuttle bus or in an employee's vehicle the OBO solutions in the parking areas always provide the right light.

Were special solutions used?

In the car park of the S49 mobility centre, and in two further parking areas on the Audi site, OBO cable trays with integrated LED luminaire supply adapters fulfil two very important functions.
